Last week Corrine and I returned from Playtime New York. This being our second tradeshow I have to say how comparably DIFFERENT this show was to our first one at the California Market Center in January.
A group that was very organized ran playtime; they were on top of everything concerning the show. If any problems were to arrive they managed it right away.
The other vendors were a perfect fit alongside our brand. We were one of the only companies showing in the layette/ gear category. Many vendors were European children’s clothing brands that produced beautiful, tailored products that I was drooling over. Also, the majority of the clothing shown was in muted colors. In comparison, our brand definitely stood out!
The buyers in attendance were a mix of ‘big time,’ well-known children’s stores to brick and mortar and online stores. We had success with sales while at the show and have a ton of follow up to do post show. There were also many online and print editors in attendance. Meeting face to face with those that report on the business of the children’s world is incredibly exciting. Many of these editors have major influence on promoting our brand in an organic, authentic way.
Overall, I was incredibly impressed with Playtime and am aiming to attend the Paris version of the show this January 2014.
Here are a couple of pics of the show to give you an idea of our ‘living’ space for the four days we were in New York:
